Summer Activities With Grandchildren (Summer 2022)

One of the best parts of retirement is having time to spend with our grandchildren. During the summer of 2022, we spent time with all three of our grandchildren celebrating birthdays, swimming in our community pool, visiting city and state parks, going to the zoo, playing miniature golf, and taking a trip to Texas with one grandchild.

Research tells us that being actively involved in the lives of your grandchildren has benefit for both the grandparent and the grandchild. Benefits for the grandparent include less depression, being mindful of the present, increased playfulness, longer and healthier lives, and a boosted immune system. Benefits for the grandchild include development of problem-solving skills, receiving material and emotional support, providing guidance, and someone to have fun with.

We see our role as grandparents as providing a positive Christian role model for our grandchildren. We want their memories of us to be as supportive, fun, and loving grandparents.
