Myrtle Beach (December 2023)

In 2022 we spent the month of November in Myrtle Beach. This year we decided to mix things up and try spending the month of December in Myrtle Beach. We got a really good off-season rate on a two-bedroom condo at the Andersen Ocean Club and Spa. We had two balconies overlooking the ocean. Each day we exercised by walking down steps from our 20th floor condo to the fitness center on the 3rd floor. We then rode a stationary bike, walked on a treadmill, and lifted dumbbells. Later in the morning we spent time in one of the two hot tubs. We would then go for a walk along the beach. During the day and evening we took day trips to city and state parks, out to see Christmas lights in various locations, attending various shows, and going out to eat. We even had our grandsons come to visit for a few days. It was a completely different type of Christmas that we enjoyed for a change of pace.

Beach Walks

Our favorite activity at the beach is walking the beach morning, afternoon, or evening. We also collected shells for our Beach Christmas Tree.

Boardwalk Christmas Lights

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is a very festive place with lights all along the way.

Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach is the main shopping area for Myrtle Beach as well as a tourist attraction with stores, restaurants, theaters, and activities. It is decorated for the Christmas season. We went to attend the show, Hot Jersey Nights, located at the Broadway Theater.

Brookgreen Gardens: Nights of a Thousand Candles

We had been to Brookgreen Gardens many times to walk the grounds and view the art and statues. But this was our first time to go at night to see the stunning Christmas lights. Photographs do not do it justice. You have to see it in person.

Visit From Grandsons

Our grandsons were able to visit us for three days just before Christmas. We spent time in the pool and hot tub, went to a show, out to eat, played miniature golf, rode the SkyWheel, and drove go-carts.
