Spring Adventures (Spring 2023)
Our busy spring began by attending Beauty and the Beast musical at Bob Jones University in March. It was fun getting dressed up for a night out. My wife looked fantastic. A week later we attended the Allen Jacobs Memorial Prayer Breakfast hosted by Bob Jones University. This activity honors law enforcement in Greenville County as well as raises funds for the Allen Jacobs Criminal Justice Scholarship at BJU. We attended with our three grandchildren. We also took all three grandchildren to Paris Mountain State Park for an afternoon hike.
In April we returned to Dollywood to eat warm cinnamon bread, see all the shows, see Dolly’s tour bus, and enjoy the spring flowers. We also had a visit from our daughter.
In May we were invited to attend the Greenville County Police Memorial service held outside the Greenville Law Enforcement Center. Each year the Greenville City Chief of Police and the Greenville County Sheriff greet us and read over the names of all the law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty in Greenville County. We are honored to hear our son’s name read each year.
Tammie was invited to the School of Education Celebration where faculty honored students in the School of Education for various accomplishments. Tammie was recognized for her service to the School of Education, presented flowers, and was wished a happy retirement. She was able to say goodbye to the graduating seniors that she had taught. Soon after, we made a quick trip to Detroit to check on my mom.
Later in May we went with the Power Company (seniors) group from our church to a Greenville Drive baseball game at Flour Field in downtown Greenville. We all went on a bus, had dinner, enjoyed the game, and stayed for the fireworks.
Our last trip in May was to return to Dollywood but this time with our granddaughter. We ate ice cream, watched shows, and rode every age-appropriate ride in the park. We had a fantastic time together.
