Autumn Travels (October 2025)

Just three weeks after our trip to Michigan to visit with Don’s mom, we loaded up the van for a trip to Texas to visit with Tammie’s mom. We normally make this 853 mile trip in 15-16 hours and do so in one long day. Usually, we start the day by leaving between 4 and 5 am (Eastern Time) and arriving in Pittsburg, TX around 6-7 pm (Central Time). However, this time we decided to stop in Pearl, MS to spend the night. Although, this is more expensive and takes two days of travel we arrived in Texas a lot more rested and ready to begin a very busy week. On our way we crossed the Mississippi River and stopped at the Texas Welcome Center

Our week in Texas consisted of driving Tammie’s mom to four doctor appointments, going out to eat with her, cleaning her house which has been for sale for a year, and walking around the lake where the house is located. It was a hot week in Texas with temperatures hitting the low 90s all week. At the end of the week, we left her mom in good hands at her assisted living facility and began our two-day trip back home.
