Fall for Myrtle Beach: Week 4 (November 2025)

Our final week in Myrtle Beach was quiet as we celebrated Thanksgiving together and started the Christmas season with various light shows. We went out to eat twice, and Tammie cooked us a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner.

Christmas Lights

Our hotel put up a very nice Christmas tree this week in the lobby. On Monday, we drove to North Myrtle Beach, SC to see The Great Christmas Light Show. This drive through light show featured over 2 million lights festively displayed along a 2-mile drive throughout the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex.

Our next stop for Christmas lights was a walk on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Winter Wonderland. This is a walking tour of the lights on the nearly 1.5-mile boardwalk. It is great to walk near all the displays, listen to the Christmas music, and stop in one of the local restaurants for some hot chocolate.

Out to Eat

We went out to eat at two new to us restaurants. Our first restaurant was Portofino Italian Kitchen. We were dressed in jeans to see Christmas lights, but this was a place we would have felt more comfortable getting dressed up. White tablecloths, wine on display, and candlelight set a romantic and formal mood. However, there were only three couples in the entire restaurant, so we didn’t feel too out of place. We both had tomato basil soup as an appetizer. Tammie had the lasagna, and I had chicken piccata. The food was excellent, and we would recommend eating here before heading out to a theater or concert while maybe dressed up just a bit.

Our second new to us restaurant was Wicked Tuna located on the 2nd Ave. Pier. Tammie ordered Shrimp and Grits, and I ordered the Fried Seafood Platter. We shared a cheesecake for dessert. The food was acceptable but not outstanding. Tammie’s Shrimp and Grits had very spicy shrimp and sausage but just a small amount of cheese grits. My Fried Seafood Platter came out just warm not hot. The french fries were cold by the time I started eating them. The cost was pricey, so I think we were mainly paying for the ambience and the views overlooking the 2nd Avenue Pier.

Daily Activities

Of course, our final week also involved exercising in the fitness center, walks on the beach, dancing, a little shopping, riding on the SkyWheel, and sitting in the hot tub. The weather was fantastic the first half of the week with high temperatures in the upper 70s. However, Friday through Sunday the highs stayed in the low 50s, and low temperatures got as cold as 30 degrees. While out shopping at Beach Bums, I used some birthday money to buy myself a black baseball cap and a black hoodie both with Myrtle Beach printed on the front.

Miniature Golf

On Friday, we tried to get in some fun at Broadway Grand Prix. Besides go karts they also have two miniature golf courses. We got there bundled up but decided it was just too cold to ride the go karts. We decided to play both of the miniature golf courses but after finishing one course we decided upper 40s with brisk winds was just too cold for us.

Sunrise

Each morning, we were greeted by some wonderful sunrises. Each day had a slightly different hue. One of the things we miss most when we return home is seeing the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. We look forward to returning next year.
