Texas New Year (January 2025)

New Year’s Day

The day after Christmas, Tammie’s mom broke her hip at her assisted living apartment. A few days later she had surgery, and we arrived in Pittsburg, TX on New Year’s Eve. Tammie’s mom was in a hospital in Longview, TX about an hour away. So for the first week of the new year, we stayed at her mom’s house in Pittsburg that had been on the market for about a month. We walked around the lake every morning, went to visit her mom first in the hospital then later at the rehab facility. In the afternoons and evenings, we did small repairs on the house or cleaned.

After the first week, I broke a crown and the tooth under the crown. We rented a car for Tammie, and I drove back to South Carolina to see my dentist. While awaiting a couple of days to get in, South Carolina was hit with a snowstorm. The prediction was for 5 inches, so the dentist office cancelled my appointment. We ended up getting a dusting of snow. My dentist appointment was postponed to the next week. After finally getting a temporary tooth in place I drove back to Texas. Tammie’s mom made it back to her assistant living apartment and we headed back to South Carolina at the end of the month.
