Myrtle Beach Days (January 2023)
2023 was our first full year of retirement and it was a busy one. We started the year off by returning to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Christmas Activities (December 2022)
December 2022 was a very busy activity month for us. This would be the month Tammie retired (December 15). Besides the normal busy Christmas schedule, we had several additional events scheduled to celebrate Tammie’s retirement.
Myrtle Beach and Home (Fall 2022)
After returning from our Chistian School Convention trip, we had a relatively quiet fall. My wife was completing her last semester as a professor and was busy handing off her responsibilities as a Program Coordinator.
Shenandoah National Park, Lancaster, and Hershey, PA (Fall 2022)
In the fall of 2022, my wife was completing her last semester as a professor of education and I was at home being a house husband and getting use to retirement. In late September, my wife was scheduled to speak at a Christian school convention being held in Pennsylvania and I was the designated driver.
Learning Pickleball (Fall 2022)
One of our favorite retirement activities is playing pickleball. We both attended a pickleball clinic in the fall of 2022. We used Upstate Pickleball
Clinic. We were taught by John Moore and Sandy Halkett.
Congaree National Park and Myrtle Beach (Summer 2022)
In late July of 2022 we planned a week-long trip to Myrtle Beach to celebrate our anniversary. On the way we planned a stop at Congaree National Park which is the only national park in South Carolina. Congaree National Park contains the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern United States.
Summer Activities With Grandchildren (Summer 2022)
One of the best parts of retirement is having time to spend with our grandchildren. During the summer of 2022, we spent time with all three of our grandchildren celebrating birthdays, swimming in our community pool, visiting city and state parks, going to the zoo, playing miniature golf, and taking a trip to Texas with one grandchild.
First Retirement Trip (May 2022)
Our first retirement trip took place soon after my official retirement in May 2022. We flew into Las Vegas and then visited National and State Parks in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California.
